According to the latest data from the World Macadamia Organization, three of the leading macadamia-producing countries are set to experience a promising boost in their crop volumes compared to 2023. South Africa’s harvest is expected to grow by around 15%, Australia by approximately 16%, and Kenya by about 12%. Together, these countries accounted for roughly 56% of the global macadamia crop in 2023, with China adding another 19%.
While this forecast suggests a notable uptick in production, it’s essential not to misjudge the supply situation. Last season, global macadamia prices dipped due to an oversupply left over from 2022 and expectations of a large 2023 harvest. However, Australia’s actual crop yield came in lower than projected, while demand from China remained strong for both nut-in-shell and kernel products. As a result, most of the 2023 crop has already been sold, leaving only limited stock available. This highlights the need to secure macadamia volumes early to ensure a reliable shipment window.
